Director of Operations


Michael Brown has served as the Plant Manager of the East River Generation Power Plant located in Manhattan, since January 2012. In this role he directs all strategic planning, operations, finance, maintenance, and administrative departments.

Mike is a leader in the Sustainable Energy and Power Generation Industry, managing operations, finance, and maintenance of diverse fuel Power Projects, to optimize the assets for financial return and reliability. In each leadership role, Mike developed a reputation for enhancing operational effectiveness, reliability and flexibility of power generation assets including combined/ cogeneration cycle plants, nuclear, CHP, fossil power, gas turbine, steam turbine and diesel electric plants.

Before IPSC, Mike worked at Con Edison. Before that, he served as part of the Merchant Marines in 1986 as an East River operation shift supervisor. While there, he held positions of increasing responsibility including system engineer Indian Point 2. In 1993, Mike worked with the NYPA as a commissioning engineer/ operation’s shift supervisor at the Richard M. Flynn Combined Cycle Project in Holtsville, NY. IN 1999 Mike was promoted to Plant Manager of the Brooklyn Navy Yard Cogen Facility until 2008. From 2008 to 2012, Mike held two different additional Plant Manager Positions at Combined Cycle and Heating plants.
